Essentials To Hosting a Viewing Party

An image of two people holding drinks and talking.

While there’s nothing like going to see an actual live game, sometimes it’s easier to simply throw a viewing party in the comfort of your own home. So whether you’re hosting a big football party, watching the big hockey game, or simply kicking back with some friends and finding a local game, there are things that you want to make sure that you have. In this blog post, we will be discussing what you’re going to need to throw the best viewing party. Keep reading to learn more!

Make Sure There’s Enough Seating

First and foremost, make sure that everyone will be able to see the game! Whether you’re streaming the game in your home theater, living room, or backyard set up, making sure you have seating for everyone is crucial. While most people will opt to sit on the floor, they shouldn’t have to. Provide your guests with seating that is arranged around the tv screen. If you don’t have enough seating make sure that you borrow some from a friend. You’ll also have to make sure that your seats are arranged in a pattern allowing everyone to see and no one is blocking the TV. This may be a bit harder than it sounds, but with enough practice and some Tetris experience, you’ll get the job done!

Create A Theme

Once you’ve mastered the seating arrangement, make sure that your viewing party has a theme! This can be simple. It can be themed for the team you and your friends are rooting for, the type of sport you’re watching, or even something completely different. Maybe your party is food-themed and everyone has to bring their favorite dip or their favorite cocktail. The possibilities are truly endless when it comes to theme-ing your party. Whatever your theme is, make sure that the theme is cohesive throughout the party. This can come from decorations, food, and even outfits. Have everyone dress in their best game day attire, this can be another easy way to get the team spirit going!

Decorate and Clean Your Home the Night Before

If you’ve decided to go with a specific theme and you are going to be using decorations, make sure that you decorate everything beforehand. The night before, get the house ready! Make sure that everything is put away and that your home is decluttered. Doing all of this the morning of can be stressful and chances are, you’ll probably miss something that you planned on doing like vacuuming the house. It’s also a good thing to double-check if you’ve forgotten anything. Perhaps you forgot that you needed that extra bottle of soda or you need an extra stack of paper plates. Doing all of this the night before, you’ll be able to make sure that if you need to get anything else and you’ll have plenty of time to do it!

Test Your TV Connection

This is especially true if you’ve moved your tv from its usual spot. Make sure that your television connection works! There is nothing worse than rallying all your friends and family for the big game and having everyone settled and ready, only to learn that your TV connection is not working. Not only will you have a few friends or family members that may be angry but you’re also missing the big game, which is the whole reason as to why you’re here! So, test your TV connection and make sure that you’ll be able to stream the game!

Don’t Be Afraid To Ask For Help

If you’re inviting a lot of guests, ask a few people to help you out. There’s no shame in that at all! With a few extra hands, you’ll be able to enjoy your own party, instead of continuously fetching drinks, making sure there’s enough food, handing out dishes, and everything else. Try and find your helpers beforehand so you’re not searching for people the day off. Allow yourself some time to relax by securing some help!
